Color character
The CineLook Kodak 5213 Vision3 200T transform runs on a tone curve alone; there is no channel matrix, so hue relationships pass through close to how they entered. Three anchors move: shadows sit 0.08 lower, midtones fall 0.049 below the source, and highlights rise 0.021. Read together, that is a toe-down, a mid-drop and a slight upper lift: small offsets that keep the frame finely separated. The contrast profile is low, and the shoulder is compact and soft, so bright edges ease over gradually instead of hardening into a clip. Shadow response stays neutral, deepened by the curve rather than tinted. Skin tone bias is recorded as protected. Grain is fine at a nominal speed of ISO 200, so texture reads as an even, quiet tooth. It sits at the camera-negative stage, the base of the pipeline, a starting point rather than a finish, and balanced mids carry the image with contrast sitting under it instead of on top.
When to choose it
It suits footage where the light is tungsten and the frame is under control. Studio interiors are its home ground: placed key and fill, known walls, and no need to fight the sources with correction. Tungsten-lit dialogue fits for the same reason, particularly where practical lamps carry part of the scene and the rest is held inside a controlled interior. Controlled night work is within range too, though the neutral shadow response will not rescue a thin exposure; the 0.049 mid delta trims density that was already marginal, so meter with intent. Mixed practical lighting is the harder case, and the tungsten native balance is what keeps warm sources reading as one family rather than two. Fine grain keeps backgrounds quiet. Where the light runs low, the 5219 sibling holds open low-light detail.
Working with it in Studio
In CineLook Studio the Look arrives as a starting point, not a lock. Exposure sets overall level, and the small mid drop usually wants some of it back; Contrast restores separation if the low profile reads too flat. Highlights and Shadows move the ends without flattening the curve's shape, and Highlight Rolloff decides how much of the soft shoulder survives when practicals flare. Temperature and Tint clean a residual cast without discarding the tungsten balance. Saturation and Vibrance hold chroma, and the protected skin tone bias favors faces under warm sources. Film Grain adds texture above the fine base, Bloom softens specular edges, Vignette closes the frame. Export writes a .cube LUT carrying Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Temperature, Tint, Saturation, Vibrance and Highlight Rolloff; Film Grain, Bloom and Vignette stay in the app.
How it compares
The two siblings bracket it. The CineLook Kodak 5219 Vision3 500T transform keeps the tungsten balance and the same low contrast and soft highlights, but carries medium grain and lifted shadows, so it opens low-light detail where the 200T holds a firmer toe. The CineLook Kodak 5207 Vision3 250D transform matches the fine grain and the neutral shadows and swaps tungsten for daylight, with natural open midtones. Pick the 500T when the exposure is thin and shadow information outranks texture. Pick the 250D when the light is daylight and a tungsten balance would only create correction work. The 200T sits between them: 250D texture, 500T balance.
Where it fits in a grade
Place it early, once exposure and white balance are neutralized, then build the grade over it. The camera-negative role means the transform expects a source image beneath it, so anything that adds character belongs after, not before. Low contrast and a soft shoulder leave headroom up top, which is what a finishing print Look is for: it can supply density and a firmer highlight rolloff without fighting the curve. The tungsten balance argues for correction ahead of the Look rather than after it, since a warm start is easier to neutralize before the curve. Fine grain and neutral shadows keep the base quiet as it is pushed, and protected skin tones hold as the frame takes shape.
Transform parameters
The CineLook Kodak 5213 Vision3 200T transform leaves every adjustment slider at its neutral value and carries the look in its colour transform instead. Its channel matrix keeps the 1.015 / 1.012 / 1.026 diagonal and mixes at most 0.018 of one channel into another, so hues stay close to their source while crosstalk stays controlled. The luma curve sits 0.021 above the linear ramp at three-quarter tone, which is where the shoulder starts to bend.
